Electrical Supervisor

Job Introduction

We're seeking an ICP experienced electrical professional who has progressed from LV/HV cable jointing into a senior, supervisory or engineering position. The successful candidate will lead field teams, support substation commissioning activities, and carry out (or witness) 11 kV pressure testing on new and existing assets.

You’ll be responsible for delivering safe, compliant, high-quality work on distribution-level substation and cable projects, working closely with project managers, DNO/ICP representatives and commissioning engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support LV/HV cable jointing works on 11 kV distribution networks.
  • Lead or assist with substation commissioning, including functional checks, pre-energisation inspections, and completion of test/commissioning packs.
  • Conduct or witness 11 kV pressure testing, ensuring compliance with safety procedures and acceptance criteria.
  • Provide technical guidance to jointing teams and contractors, ensuring works meet DNO/ICP standards.
  • Interpret drawings, switching schedules, and commissioning documentation.
  • Liaise with project managers, clients, and network operators regarding progress, safety and technical issues.
  • Complete all required reports, permits, records and red-line drawings. 

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Background as an LV/HV Cable Jointer, with proven progression into supervisory or engineer-level responsibilities.
  • Strong experience on 11 kV distribution networks (DNO or ICP).
  • Demonstrable involvement in substation commissioning activities.
  • Competence in 11 kV pressure testing (training or documented experience).
  • SHEA Power and/or EUSR registration (or ability to obtain).
  • Good understanding of DNO-specific procedures, safety rules and work packs.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • DNO or Independent Connection Provider (ICP) authorisations.
  • City & Guilds relevant electrical qualifications.
  • Experience leading small teams or overseeing contractors.
  • Familiarity with HV switching (authorised person or working towards).
